Full-Time Drosophila Facility Manager

Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a manager for the Drosophila facilities in the Department of Genetics. The Genetics Fly Lab has a long history of excellence in fly genetics and currently operates one of the largest fly labs in the UK, providing supporting infrastructure for approximately 100 researchers. The successful applicant will provide overall management of the fly lab and supporting ancillary services, including active management of a cost recovery budget. The post holder will be expected to provide advice on Drosophila genetics to fly lab users, support training of new users, provide support for undergraduate practicals and liaise with researchers from other departments. In addition, they will be expected to play an active role in the general management of health and safety in the Department. Applicants should have a track record in Drosophila genetics research, including experience in experimental design and husbandry, and have at least degree level qualifications or equivalent experience. Experience in managing technical staff and research facilities as well as basic IT skills are highly desirable, and it is expected that applicants have excellent communication skills. 

Salary / Contract
Minimum salary: 32,901.00
Maximum salary: 44,166.00
Salary currency: GBP
Salary period: Annually
Contract type: PERMANENT + FULL-TIME
