Lectureships in Cell and Molecular Biology. Ranked very highly in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, QueenMary is one of the largest colleges in the University of London and one of the UK’s leading research-intensive institutions, joining the Russell Group in 2012.

The College has made a strategic commitment to world-class research and teaching across all its disciplines. Within QueenMary, the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences is a large and expanding academic unit, which provides a supportive and friendly environment and encourages interdisciplinary research. We are embarking on a 5 year programme of recruitment to invest in the acknowledged strengths in the school and advance its areas of internationally-competitive activity. The School extends from Chemistry, through all aspects of Biology to Psychology. We have strong links with other Schools within the Faculty as well as with Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. The school is also embarking on an exciting joint venture with Nanchang University in biomedicine. Applications are invited for Lectureships in the Cell and Molecular Biology Division in Biomedical Science. You will join a team of Cell and Molecular Biologists, Structural Biologists and Biophysicists and strengthen our research related to Biomedical Sciences. You may contribute to existing themes on healthy ageing, infection, and posttranslational disease (epigenetics).

Applications in the fields of genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics are particularly encouraged. The successful candidates will have outstanding research track records and will be expected to develop world-class, externally funded research programmes. These appointments would be appropriate for an individual or a strong grouping of individuals with an exceptional lead. Additional expansion in staff numbers within the Cell & Molecular Biology Division is anticipated over the next three years as a result of a new partnership in biomedical sciences with Nanchang University.

A competitive remuneration package and start-up funds are negotiable. The posts are full time and permanent starting in July 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The salary will be in the range of £38,197 – £47,559 for Lecturers and £50,267 – £56,185 for Senior Lecturers; per annum and will be in accordance with the appointment level, subject to experience and qualifications. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, childcare vouchers scheme, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
